This is a superior vintage Navajo Native American jewelry Native American jewelry silver bowguard. Front and center is the detailed 3-5/8" x 2-1/2" silver shield. The entire shield is a dramatic representation of arrows and feathers, as are the four 1" x 3/4" silver wagon wheel buttons at the sides. Concentric circles of design emanate from the striking oval Sleeping Beauty turquoise stone at the very center. The outer edging at the four corners, coupled with the scalloped design of the north, south, east and west.all add to the overall impressiveness of this bowguard. And the sides of the shield are actually curved inward against the curviture of the leather bowguard itself, again contributing to the depth and dimension of this exceptional piece. This black leather bowguard is 4" wide and is about 7-1/2" to 9-1/2" around, depending on the adjustment of the fabulous double silver belt closures that are complete with retainers and silver tips! The center stone measures around 5/8" x 5/16". Signed by Navajo Native American jewelry Native American jewelry artist, F. Maloney. Sterling silver. Cir. 1990's+. Sturdy 142 grams.
