The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine, located in Globe, Arizona, was once celebrated for producing some of the most iconic and prized turquoise in the world. Named after the nearby Sleeping Beauty Mountain, this mine was known for its distinctive robin's egg blue color and lack of matrix, giving it a clean and uniform appearance. The turquoise from Sleeping Beauty was highly sought after by jewelry artisans and collectors for its vibrant hue and consistent quality. Unfortunately, the Sleeping Beauty mine ceased operations in 2012, leading to a significant decrease in the availability of this particular turquoise. Despite its closure, Sleeping Beauty turquoise remains highly valued, and existing supplies are cherished for their beauty and rarity, representing a unique chapter in the history of American turquoise mining.
