This is a monumental vintage North Cheyenne Smithsonian quality silver canteen necklace handmade by the famous Ben Nighthorse Campbell. This is one of Ben's earlier and most rare pieces and contains his very first hallmark. The silver is very heavy and the stamp work is incredibly precise. The large handmade silver coil wonderfully circumscribes the canteen which is fully functional. The cap comes off to which the hallmark is exposed. Ben served as a US Senator as well as a marshall arts professor. One fascinating story about Ben was that he witnessed a woman being mugged and he ran down and caught the attacker and was able to return the stolen goods to the woman who thankfully survived. The large canteen measures around 3-3/4" X 3-1/4". Sterling silver. Cir. 1970's+. Signed by North Cheyenne artist Ben Nighthorse Campbell. The length of the necklace measures around 23". Sturdy 105 grams. MAKE US AN OFFER- We like to be flexible! Send us your reasonable offer on this piece(s), you have nothing to lose.
