The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine, situated in Globe, Arizona, was once one of the most prolific and renowned sources of turquoise in the world. Mined since the early 20th century, Sleeping Beauty turquoise gained fame for its distinctive robin's egg blue color, often devoid of matrix. The mine's turquoise became highly sought after for its consistent color and sought-after hue, making it a favorite among jewelry artisans and collectors alike. The mine's output, characterized by its vivid blue shades and remarkable clarity, played a significant role in shaping the aesthetic of Southwestern and Native American jewelry. Unfortunately, the Sleeping Beauty mine closed in 2012, leading to a scarcity of its turquoise in the market.
