One Of The Most Intricate Vintage Native American Zuni Turquoise Fetish Sterling Silver Necklace

  • $ 1,214.99

This is a breathtaking vintage Zuni hand carved turquoise fetish necklace. This impressive necklace contains a beautiful plethora of hand carved detailed turquoise fetish stones. Situated throughout the fetish stones are marvelous hand cut turquoise heishi stones. The necklace is comprised of three remarkable strands that are all situated within one another. Resting at the ends of the necklace are striking handmade sterling silver cones with a traditional silver clasp. The bottom largest fetish measures around 1-1/4" X 1". The turquoise appears to be from the Number 8 and Royston turquoise mines, both being very unique and amazing mines. A Zuni necklace that incorporates both Royston turquoise and Number 8 turquoise is a unique and beautiful piece of jewelry. Royston turquoise is known for its range of colors, including various shades of green and blue with brown matrix. Number 8 turquoise, on the other hand, is characterized by its light blue color with a golden or reddish-brown matrix.

Combining these two types of turquoise in a Zuni necklace would create a visually appealing contrast and showcase the distinct characteristics of each stone. The Zuni people are renowned for their intricate stone inlay work, and a necklace featuring both Royston and Number 8 turquoise could be adorned with intricate designs and patterns, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of Zuni jewelry makers.

Each stone would be carefully cut and shaped to fit together seamlessly, creating a mosaic-like effect when set in silver or another metal. The Zuni people have a rich history of creating intricate stone inlay jewelry, often incorporating multiple stones and intricate designs that hold symbolic meaning within their culture.

The resulting Zuni necklace would be a unique and striking piece, combining the beauty of Royston turquoise and Number 8 turquoise in a way that highlights the individual characteristics of each stone while showcasing the skill and artistry of the Zuni jewelry tradition. Sterling silver, marked. Cir. 1970's+. The length of the necklace measures around 29". Sturdy 67 grams.
