Here we have a marvelous 1" black leather concho belt - with an impressive 3/16" round Sleeping Beauty turquoise stone set at the centers of the eight oval conchos! The rectangular buckle, as well as those eight 1-1/2" x 1-1/8" oval conchos and the nine alternating 1-1/8" x 7/8" bows all have the unforgettable repousse and handstamped designs! Love this piece! Concho jewelry has a rich history in Native American cultures, particularly among tribes in the Southwestern United States. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is a unique, beautiful light to medium blue color. It usually has few spider webbing matrix lines. It is highly prized and has a special place in the world of turquoise. This turquoise is collected from the Sleeping Beauty mine, which is near the town of Globe in Arizona. Like other mines it will run out in time, and the value of this turquoise will continue to go up. As with other types of turquoise, being unique often brings added fame. Even among the most highly cherished types of turquoise however, Sleeping Beauty turquoise holds a special place. And repoussé is a metalworking technique used to create intricate designs in relief by hammering the reverse side of the metal.
