Incredible Vintage Native American Navajo Jet Sterling Silver Hinged Bracelet Signed

Up for sale is this superior vintage Navajo silver bracelet. This is such a dynamic bracelet! Each of the large, square cut intense black Jet domed stones are hinged together and have a secure push-button clasp. A fabulous piece - the bracelet measures about 8" around! Jet is a type of lignite, a precursor to coal, and is considered a black gemstone. It is not a mineral but rather a product of high-pressure decomposition of wood from millions of years ago. Jet has been used for centuries in various forms of jewelry and ornamentation due to its deep black color and relative ease of carving. The use of jet in Native American jewelry is part of a long tradition of incorporating materials found in the local environment into artistic and cultural expressions. Jet, being relatively common in certain regions, became a valuable resource for Native American artists. The stones measure around 1" x 11/161". The width of the bracelet measures around 1".
