This is a breathtaking vintage Zuni Native American jewelry museum quality bolo tie of important historical significance. The piece is an early John Gordon Leek bolo tie having a completely handmade hand inlaid simplistic thunderbird. Leek was known to create such simplistic thunderbird designs. Resting at the bottom of the tie are two impressive handmade silver pins. John was one of the first pinoneers with inlaid figures having a black background. He was active from the 1920's to the 1950's. The exquisite bolo measures around 1-3/4" X 1-5/8" and the total length of the leather tie measures around 43". Sterling silver. Cir. 1930's+.
