This is a tremendous vintage Navajo very old turquoise silver concho belt. This belt is very sturdy and large consisting of 9 outstanding large oval shaped detailed silver conchos. Each concho measures around 2-3/4" X 2-1/2" and contains beautiful old natural patina. Located in the center of each concho is a marvelous chunky Bisbee turquoise stone. I absolutely love the surrounding silver works on the conchos including bordering sun stampings, slanted wave works and repoussed shells. The black leather belt is wide and thick. The stones measure around 3/8" x 1/4". Sterling silver. Cir. Mid century . This belt will fit a waist size between 30-1/4" and 36". Sturdy 424 grams. A Navajo turquoise silver concho belt is a traditional piece of Native American jewelry that originates from the Navajo tribe, renowned for their intricate silverwork and use of turquoise stones. The concho belt is a type of belt consisting of a series of conchos, which are decorative silver pieces typically oval or rectangular in shape, connected by leather or metal links. In a Navajo turquoise silver concho belt, the conchos are often adorned with turquoise stones. Turquoise holds significant cultural and spiritual importance in Native American traditions, symbolizing protection, prosperity, and connection to the natural world. The stones are usually set in bezel settings, surrounded by elaborate silverwork, including hand-stamped patterns, repoussé, or intricate filigree designs. The conchos in the belt are typically fastened together with leather or metal links, forming a flexible and adjustable belt. The belts are often worn around the waist and serve as both a functional accessory and a display of artistic craftsmanship. Navajo turquoise silver concho belts are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of Native American art and jewelry. They are considered valuable and represent the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the Navajo people.
