It's then attached to its necklace of thick pipestone and shell heishi! Cool! Pipestone is a type of soft, reddish-brown stone that holds significant cultural and spiritual importance to various Native American tribes, particularly those of the Plains region. It is a type of claystone, composed mainly of the mineral kaolinite, and is known for its workability when wet and ability to be carved and shaped easily. The Santo Domingo tribe's jewelry-making tradition is deeply rooted in their cultural identity and craftsmanship.
