One Of The Finest Vintage Native American Zuni Turquoise Inlay Sterling Silver Concho Belt
This is a museum quality vintage Zuni very large and detailed inlaid silver concho belt. This phenomenal belt consists of 6 outstanding inlaid silver conchos that each measure a whopping 3-3/4" X 2-7/8". What is just so amazing about this belt is that located in the center of each silver concho are marvelous inlaid dancing kachinas. The inlay consists of mother of pearl, turquoise, coral, spiny oyster and onyx. The center inlaid pieces each measure a striking 1-1/2" X 1-1/8". Surrounding each inlaid piece are wonderful silver ropes. The rest of the remarkable conchos consist of outstanding sun bursting patterns that are just stunning. The buckle on the belt matches the conchos, just larger and consists of a slightly different surrounding stamp works that include fan works, multiple dotted stampings and bordering slanted patterns. The buckle measures around 4" X 3-1/8". The total length of the belt measures around 63-1/4" long. I just love this belt so much and all of the detailing on it. The Zuni people are known for their skill in creating beautiful jewelry, particularly using the technique of stone inlay.\n\nA concho belt typically consists of a series of conchos, which are decorative plates or discs made from metal or other materials. In the case of a Zuni inlaid concho belt, the conchos are adorned with small, precisely cut and polished stones that are set into the metal surface. The stones used in Zuni inlay work can include various types of colorful stones such as turquoise, coral, shell, jet, and others.\n\nThe inlay process involves carving the stones into specific shapes to fit within the design of the concho, then setting them into channels or recesses in the metal. The stones are secured in place using a type of adhesive or epoxy, and the surface is typically polished to create a smooth and even finish.\n\nZuni inlaid concho belts are highly prized for their craftsmanship and artistic value. They are often regarded as wearable works of art and can be valuable collector's items. The belts are traditionally worn around the waist and are commonly seen as a part of Native American regalia or as fashionable accessories that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Zuni people.
