Heavy Thick Sturdy Native American Navajo Royston Turquoise Sterling Silver Necklace

This is an astonishing vintage Navajo turquoise and silver necklace handmade by the famous artist, Ben Begaye. This outstanding piece contains a bottom large silver pendant that can be used as a pill box as the lid is removable. Located on the 2-1/4" X 1-3/4" silver box are beautiful silver works including swirling stems, raindrops, ropes and shells with amazing stamp works that consist of sun stampings, wave works, paws and zig zag patterns. Located on top of the lid is a wonderful turquoise stone that appears to be from the Royston turquoise mine. This necklace is just so thick and sturdy. The silver link chain is even thick and sturdy and was completely handmade with a traditional silver clasp. Sterling silver, marked. Cir. 1970's+. Signed by Navajo artist, Ben Begaye . The length of the necklace measures around 28". Sturdy 108 grams.
