About Terry Charlie
Terry Charlie was born in 1966 in Tuba City, Arizona, and has been a silversmith since 1988. Terry was taught by his grandfather, Juan Platero, from Canoncito, New Mexico — a grandfather-to-grandson mentorship line that reflects the direct, hands-on family instruction found throughout much of traditional Navajo silversmithing.
Charlie's style is definitely old-style American Indian jewelry, and he is best known for his classic Native American turquoise jewelry, staying close to traditional forms and techniques rather than pursuing more contemporary or experimental design directions.
